HAT CHAPTER TRIKE-IN UPDATE	Permalink

The Heart of America Trikers has cancelled their trike in Sept 7, 8, & 9 due to lack of interest. We had to meet certain critera at the campground and it was not met by the due date. Sorry for any inconvience this might have caused you. Please e-mail your Chapters and let them know and announce it at your August meeting. Any questions call Jan Roller 816-560-8452 Thanks! HI! Well I have good news and bad news. 1st the good news. Tony and I felt really proud of the HAT Chapter. We had 11 members show up for the Nebraska trike in. Thank you for coming a good time was had by all and they had 62 people there and 23 trikes and very good food. We thank them for all the planning and hard work they did to get it together again this yr. even bigger and better. We are looking forward to next year. That is what it is all about. Chapters getting together and having fun. Now the bad news. Unlike Nebraska, no one wants to come to ours. 1st while we were at the Nebraska trike in we found out that just about a month ago the Kansas state trike in scheduled their event on our trike in in Emporia. So we stopped by Basswood on the way home to finalize our arrangements with them for our trike in. To our suprise only 3 people had registered for our trike in, Jennie and Lou, Don and Debra (which they told me the other day that they couldn't come to our trike in as they live in Louisiana now) and Tony and I for camp sites. So I cancelled all the extra sites that we reserved for BTW so we wouldn't be charged. Well I got a call from Basswood this afternoon and she told me that if we don't have 10 camp sites booked by tomorrow she will have to charge us $150 a day for the meeting room. (1st we heard about this). So Tony and I discussed it. We know 7 other people wouldn't call in by tomorrow and reserve, and we don't begin to have $450 in our treasury for the 3 days and since no one has made reservations since our last trike in almost a yr ago we decided to cancel the trike in due to lack of interest. A trike in is for other Chapters to come so we can welcome them to our town and show them a good time. We also were going to have the meals catered but we have to have a minimun of 20 people for every meal for that too. And as it counts out maybe 15 people for meals including our members. We were also told at Nebraska that several that were coming to ours decided to go to the Kansas State trike in instead. We wanted you to know the story before I sent out e-mails to everyone else on cancellations on this. Jim and Lady, already know about our cancellation but it is too late to put the cancellation in the magazine so Tony is posting it on the Form and in the calander of events. We will still do a bear donation to the fire department as we told them we would. So at our August 5th meeting please bring your bears and we will see that they get them. And if needed we will buy extra with our treasury. I am so sorry for any inconvience this brings to any of you. I will e-mail Connie in Nebraska and explain to her as 4 of them were coming. Any of you that have reservations there please call and cancel them tomorrow so you can be reimbursed. They will send you the money back you gave them for holding a cabin or a camp site. But please do it tomorrow before they change their mind again. If you put fliers out there please go by and pick them up so there isn't any more out there. The ones that need to call Basswood Resort are Jennie and Lou, Don and Debra, and Connie Mass. If anyone else made reservations and didn't put it under the BTW call and cancel them. Sorry!
