I asked his wife to tell the funeral director to ask for a PGR assist, but in the haste and confusion she has been in, I can see where she overlooked that. It would have made me proud to have one. When he got out of boot camp, he was assigned to my ship and we were shipmates for over a year. That was a special time for me.. He was just like the cream on milk, he always seemed to rise to the top of whatever he did. He was a retired postmaster of his town also, and he was also pastor of his church. Being a BM2, he naturally got tattoos in the navy, and it seemed to strange to me to see him preaching with short sleeves on, cause both his forearms had tattoos. One was him in uniform and the other was of his wife. They started sparking on each other when they were in the first grade and had been a thing ever since. I am posting a picture a lady made of my dad and my brothers in our respective uniforms.
My younger brother, Jerry died of a heart attach last night at about 6 pm. I will be out of pocket for a couple of days. He was the mayor of Osceola Mo and a Viet Nam vet. He was on the boats out of Danang and then he was made craftmaster of YOG out of there also. He was a slickarm BM2 which was almost unheard of in the sixties..
