TRIKE VALVE COVER RACERS (NEW RULES) LETS HAVE SOME FUN! Print out so you'll have a copy.
THE TRIKES: No engines or propulsion. No moving weights. Wheel can be attached to the trike in any manner. Trikes shall be based on an actual rocker cover from an automobile engine. Trikes must have three wheels, each no more than six inches in diameter. Wheel must have a non-metallic surface contacting the track.
CRITICAL DIMENSIONS: 30 inch maximum overall trike length. 15 inch maximum overall trike width. 10 inch maximum overall trike height. Build them anyway you want in both classes. Weight by Official Weston Scale in both classes. TRACK DIMENSIONS: The course shall consist of an incline 24 feet long. The track incline shall be divided into two lanes, each 17 inches wide. The incline shall be four feet high at the rearmost part and level with the ground at the front edge. The official "Starting Line" shall be 30 inches from the rear edge of the incline. A mechanized starting gate will be provided. The run out section of the course shall consist of six feet designed to decrease speed. The lanes shall be clearly marked. The finish line shall be marked 6 inches from the front edge of the launch incline.
RUNNING THE RACE: Trikes will be run in heats of two trikes each. The trikes are to be launched with their leading edge on the starting line. The first trike to have its leading edge cross the finish line is the winner. If neither trike makes it to the finish line, the trike going the furthest in its lane becomes the winner. Winning trikes will advance to the next round until all are eliminated except one trike.
TWO CLASSES NEW: Trophies (same size both classes)
Lightweights - 0 to 5 pounds run off little valve covers.
Heavyweights - 5.1 to 10 pounds run off big valve covers.
This is for all the bragging rights (fastest of both classes).
