Thats a great idea, hold that thought and bring it up as new business at the next meeting, in the mean time give Linda a call (they don't have a computer yet) and this thread my cime up with more ideas too.... Thanks
Have you considered having an evemt where we collect stuff for Least of these amd offer rides on our trikes for those who donate? we could take digital pics of people on the trikes and email them to them? Might be more fun than just us donating stuff............
Linda Koelzer our Activities Coordinator came up with the idea of supporting The-Least-of-These, a non-profit organization with donations to their food bank. They are a Christian County charity that accepts all kinds of items beside food, they will take clothing, personal items, as well as cash donations, most anything a person could use to get started again.
Now as we start the new school year, there are families that are struggling for school clothes and school supplies as well as other items that can not be purchased with food stamps. There are a lot of things that must be paid for in cash. Personal hygiene items as well as soaps, paper products and all kinds of non food essentials.
As we get into the Holiday Seasons and this time of year they are one after the other after Labor Day Halloween (poor children should be able to participate too) Thanksgiving and Christmas. I know that these times can be a strain on all of us but we can also share with those less fortunate than us.
Now is a good a time as any to start gathering donations. We will have a box at our meetings for any items to donate, food or otherwise.
