I had a great time calling the auction and in my wildest dreams would I have thought I would sell a jar of toe jam and a pony tail.. the closest I ever came was a prostetic leg>>>>
HotRod, I am sure the Route 66 basket was like a lot of other baskets and didn't bring as much as the basket cost. Would sure have saved a lot of work if everyone would have just donated the money they put in their baskets but what fun would that have been and Al wouldn't have had the fun of auctioning them off. There seemed to be a distinct shortage of moon shine this year. Perhaps the draught last year and the shortage of corn had something to do with it. Guess I need to get back to work on my still. If those damn revenuers would quit flying overhead it would be easier. Has a way of makin' a guy nervous.
Commodore - Not sure what the Route 66 basket brought but high dollar baskets didn't do so well. Fortunately, there were enough smaller baskets to make up for it. Money is tight and people just weren't running things up as high as they have in the past. I am sure that almost every basket that sold had more money in it than it brought but every cent we made was clear profit for Pathways. Thanks to everyone that participated in our son's memory!!!!
Thanks to Maw, and of course Paw, for making the Mid States Trike Rally a raging success!!!! Everything went off without a hitch and there were close to 200 people who signed the guest book. Had a little rain, a little sunshine, and a whole bunch of happy people, including the people from Pathways who received over $3200 thanks to the donations from members and members bidding on the items. Next year, the event will move to Arkansas and we have left them a hard act to follow. If you didn't make it, you missed a good time but then you probably already know that.
